Nunn commits to UM

- By Christy Cabrera Chirinos

CORAL GABLES – With Early Signing Period a little more than two months away, the Hurricanes are trying to put the finishing touches on what they hope will be another top recruiting class and that class got another boost late Wednesday night.

Cornelius Nunn, a threestar safety out of Miami Palmetto, announced his commitment to the Hurricanes on Twitter hours after he reportedly made an unofficial visit to Miami’s campus in Coral Gables.

Posting a picture of himself with Hurricanes safeties coach Ephraim Banda in Miami’s new Carol Soffer Indoor Practice Facility, Nunn wrote simply, “Truly blessed to say I am committed to [the] University of Miami.”

Nunn, who is rated the No. 32 safety prospect in the nation by 247Sports.com had previously verbally committed to Syracuse before joining Miami’s recruiting class. He had also received offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Boston College, Georgia, Kentucky and North Carolina State, among others.

With Nunn’s commitment, the Hurricanes have now secured verbal pledges from 18 prospects for their 2019 recruiting class, with nine of those players hailing from South Florida. Nunn is one of four defensive backs in the class along with ChaminadeMadonna safety Keontra Smith, ChaminadeMadonna cornerback Te’Cory Couch, and Miami Carol City cornerback Jarvis Brownlee.

After receiving Nunn’s commitment, the Hurricanes recruiting class moved to No. 19 in the nation in the 247Sports.com rankings.
