Dolphins’ stadium pizza to deliver
The pizza that replaced Papa John’s this year at the Miami Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium launched a delivery service through Uber Eats on Sunday.
But like the Dolphins, this operation is a work in progress.
Currently, the only place you can get &pizza (you can also call it andpizza) is at Hard Rock Stadium, where it’s sold at two locations.
Beginning Sunday, the company started delivering its signature oblongshaped pies throughout the greater Miami region and southern Broward County.
And it plans to do this without a fixed restaurant location.
According to a spokeswoman for &pizza, the company will be delivering the pizzas “from a network of commissaries and mobile production trucks. Trucks will be positioned in target neighborhoods where Uber couriers can quickly grab pizzas and go.”
Consumers will have to download Uber Eats to place their orders.
“Leaning on Uber’s dynamic demand data, &pizza will be able to deliver pies to the people when and where they crave them,” the spokeswoman said. “Using Uber Eats’ heat-mapping technology, locations and hours will dynamically change to meet needs. &pizza will eventually utilize the delivery data to inform where its first street-side location will be.”
At first, the company’s delivery zone will only go as far north as southern Broward. The company doesn’t yet know which regions of southern Broward will get access, the spokeswoman said.
“Since delivery location is based on demand and hasn’t launched yet, we’re unable to say specifically which areas of southern Broward it will reach,” she said, adding, “right now it would be most accurate to say it will be available in parts of southern Broward pending demand.”
Each pizza is $10 and delivery will range from $3 to $5, although the spokeswoman said surge fees might be added during peak demand times.
According to the company’s website, &pizza is also available in Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
The Miami Dolphins dropped Papa John’s as its official pizza before the season began and after the chain’s founder found himself embroiled in controversy for using a racial slur.
&pizza — in which Dolphins principal owner Stephen Ross is a major investor — was tapped to fill the void.
