Five things we learned from Sunday’s game.

STADIUM IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN IT USED TO BE, BUT IT IS DANGEROUS

The Dolphins have a problem in their end zones, and I mean beyond their scoring points or allowing them. For the second time this season, Kenny Stills had a problem after catching a touchdown pass. In the Oakland game, he was shoved as he tried to get his feet in for a 34-yard touchdown pass, skidded on the rubberized perimeter surface and crashed hard into the wall. Against Detroit, he again tip-toed at the back of the west end zone and smashed into a security guard. At least 10 feet must be opened off either end zone or a major mishap could happen.

LIONS USE THE BILL BELICHICK BLUEPRINT AGAINST DOLPHINS BROCK OSWEILER HAD A SOLID PERFORMANCE

Osweiler put together a career-best performance last week against the Chicago Bears, and held his own in his second start as Ryan Tannehill’s replacement, serving as a facilitator Sunday. Osweiler completed 22-of-31 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns, producing a 114.9 passer rating. His touchdown throws to receivers Kenny Stills and Danny Amendola were both beautiful passes that threaded the needle against tight coverage.

ANOTHER TIGHT END HAS A GOOD DAY AGAINST DOLPHINS

Michael Roberts caught one pass for a 15-yard touchdown coming into Sunday’s game, and he kept his catch-to-touchdown ratio up against the Dolphins. Two of the three passes Roberts caught on the Dolphins turned into touchdowns. On his first touchdown catch he dropped behind Miami’s zone coverage for the game’s first score. Then in the third quarter, Roberts beat linebacker Kiko Alonso to the corner of the end zone on a quick hitter to the sideline.

THERE ARE SLOW STARTS OFFENSIVELY, AND THEN THERE IS WHAT MIAMI IS DOING

With their meek three-and-out after receiving the opening kickoff, the Dolphins remained scoreless in the first possession of games this season. The last time Miami scored points on an opening drive was Dec. 11 last year against the Patriots, a Cody Parkey field goal.
