MIAMI GARDENS — The injuries keep piling up for the Miami Dolphins, who lost starting receiver Albert Wilson to a right hip/leg injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s 32-21 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Wilson, who entered the game leading the Dolphins in receiving yards, suffered the injury at the end of a 25-yard reception when Lions linebacker Jarrad Davis landed on his leg while trying to make the tackle on a play that set up the Dolphins’ first scoring drive.

Wilson was walking on his own while being escorted into the locker room. But he didn’t return, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told WSVN that the injury is significant and the team will await the result of an MRI before determining the timetable for Wilson’s return.

If Wilson’s injury requires surgery, or he has to undergo rehab that will take longer than a month, the Dolphins could end up placing him on injured reserve.

Wilson’s absence handcuffs the Dolphins offense because plenty of Miami’s plays are built on his run-after-catch skills, which have allowed him to contribute 391 yards on 26 receptions this season.

The Dolphins entered Sunday’s game already one receiver short. DeVante Parker was among the inactives for the game because of a quadriceps injury that has forced him to miss two of the past three games.

And making matters worse, receiver Kenny Stills suffered an undisclosed injury in the final minutes of the game, which forced tailback Kenyan Drake to line up as a receiver for the offense’s closing drive.

Stills collides with security guard: Stills caught a touchdown and crashed into a Hard Rock Stadium security guard that left them both injured during the second quarter.

Stills caught a 5-yard pass from quarterback Brock Osweiler near the back corner of the end zone, and was pushed by Lions defensive back Darius Slay into the woman into the sideline wall.

The collision left Stills testing out his shoulder on the Dolphins sideline. The woman, who hurt her right shoulder, was escorted into the stadium tunnel to receive medical attention.

After colliding with the woman, Stills gave her the football while she was lying on the sideline. She was later taken to an area hospital as a precaution, according to the Dolphins.

“That was kind of an unusual situation, the ball he caught there,” Dolphins coach Adam Gase said. “Every stadium is like that where that can happen.”

Stills’ sideline collision was his second at home this season, after crashing into the wall following a touchdown catch against the Oakland Raiders in Week 3.
