The late Broward County rapper and singer XXXTentacion alluded to beating his girlfriend and apparently confessed to stabbing multiple people in Deerfield Beach, according to music website Pitchfork.com.

According to Pitchfork, a secretly recorded 27-minute tape obtained from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office features XXXTentacion talking with acquaintances around the time of his arrest in October 2016.

XXXTentacion, a charttopping artist whose given name was Jahseh Onfroy, was shot and killed on June 18, 2018, in Deerfield Beach. Four men are accused in the slaying.

At the time of his death, he had been awaiting trial in connection with a domestic violence case in which he allegedly savagely beat and ex-girlfriend. He had pleaded not guilty and maintained his innocence and at the time of his death, the rapper’s friends and family had said he was changing for the better.

According to the secret audio, this is what XXXTentaction says about his exgirlfriend:

“But she fell through on every occasion until now. Until I started f-----g her up, bruh,” he says, emphasizing the f-word. “I started f-----g her up because she made one mistake.”

In another part of the recording, there is a reference to an apparent stabbing in Deerfield Beach. He says that contrary to local media reports, which reported the number of victims as three, he had stabbed eight people.

“I’m on [Miami] New Times for stabbing, how many people they put in the news? They said three, it was eight,” Pitchfork reported the rapper as saying.

It’s not clear what incident was being referred to, but the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported on January 21, 2016, that three people were stabbed in a fight in Deerfield Beach.

Pitchfork reported that the case in Miami-Dade against Onfroy was closed after his death, and that both the prosecution and defense considered the recording a confession.
