Franklin departs South Broward

South Broward and football coach Keith Franklin came to a mutual decision to part ways last week, South Broward athletic director Boomer Bray and Franklin told the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

“On behalf of myself and South Broward High School, we would like to thank coach Franklin for all his hard work and dedication towards the team,” Bray said. “We just felt it was his time to move in a new direction. The program will be [having] an ongoing search for the team’s next head coach.”

Said Franklin: “We just went our separate

ways.”

Franklin spent two years at the helm for the Bulldogs, going 7-13. They went 2-8 this season.

“It was a major turnover we had two years ago,” Franklin said. “We had kids [who] left for graduation, and this past season, we had about 14, 15 kids transfer for whatever reason. So I was really playing with a young team. But the kids played hard throughout the year. That’s all I could ask for them.”

Franklin is a teacher at South Broward and the school’s assistant athletic director. He said he plans to remain those posts and has not decided whether he will look for another coaching position.

“Right now, I just want to spend time with my family and be the best assistant athletic director I can be,” Franklin said. “So right now, I’m going to enjoy the time off.”
