Broward top 10

The regular season is over, and it’s time for the playoffs. All 10 ranked Broward teams made the postseason, and seven will host first- or second-round games. Here’s a look at Broward’s top teams at the end of the season. All games start at 7:30 on Friday unless noted.

1. (1) ST. THOMAS AQUINAS (9-1)

The Raiders got revenge on Miramar with a blowout victory to end the year. With only one slip up against Miami Central, Aquinas ends the year on top. Next: vs. South Miami

2. (2) CARDINAL GIBBONS (8-2)

A successful regular season for the Chiefs ended with a win over previously unbeaten McArthur. Next: vs. Merritt Island

3. (3) DEERFIELD BEACH (9-1)

The Bucks stick at No. 3 after getting a bye week before their first-round playoff game. Next: vs. Miramar

4. (4) AMERICAN HERITAGE (8-1)

The Patriots also had a bye week before the playoffs start. Heritage will travel to Fort Pierce due to its loss to Cardinal Gibbons. Next: at Fort Pierce Westwood

5. (5) CHAMINADE-MADONNA (8-2)

The Lions ended as strongly as anyone in the county, blowing out University School on the road. Next: Bye

6. (7) DILLARD (8-2)

The Panthers picked up an easy Soul Bowl victory to cruise into the playoffs. There will be no cruising this week, as they face Miami Central. vs. Miami Central Next:

7. (6) UNIVERSITY SCHOOL (9-1)

The Sharks can’t let last week’s loss to ChaminadeMadonna demoralize them. Luckily, they have a bye week to regroup and refocus for the postseason. Next: Bye

8. (8) PLANTATION (9-1)

When the dust settled in the District 12-8A tiebreaker, the Colonels came out ahead. Their reward is the No. 4 seed in their region and getting to host Piper instead of traveling to Deerfield Beach or Atlantic. Next: vs. Piper

9. (10) WESTERN (8-2)

The Wildcats’ inability to fend off Miramar hurts now, as they have to face Atlantic on the road. Next: at Atlantic

10. (NR) FORT LAUDERDALE (8-2)

The Flying L’s enter the rankings after a strong season. They have a big road test against Doral Academy in the first round of the playoffs. Next: at Doral Academy
