Coral Glades is making a change at the top of its football program.

The Jaguars released coach Chris Baldwin after four years as the team’s head coach, Baldwin confirmed Sunday.

Athletic director Kristen Garcia could not be reached for comment Sunday afternoon.

“I appreciate Coral Glades giving me the opportunity,” Baldwin said.

“Definitely brought that program to a different level.”

After taking over a team that had gone 2-18 in its previous two seasons, Baldwin went 11-28 in four years with Coral Glades, peaking with a 4-6 record in 2016.

The Jaguars went 2-8 this season.

“I was [surprised], but I wasn’t,” Baldwin said. “Nobody’s bigger than the program. And if they feel they can get more out of these kids, by all means, that’s their choice, and I’ll abide by that.”

After four years at Coral Glades, Baldwin said he’ll take pride in the job he did with the program.

“I did a nice job, I believe, getting kids off to school,” Baldwin said. “Some of these young men, from different types of families, and when I got there, no one was going to school. So, I changed that culture, and that’s something that I’ll pride myself on. I had the first Division I kid last year; he’s off to Fordham. We did very well. Academics are the key to everything.”

Coral Glades is the second Broward County team to make a coaching change, following South Broward announcing Keith Franklin was out as its head coach.
