The passenger who died last week on board a Princess Cruises ship out of Fort Lauderdale has been identified as 52-year-old Almarosa Tenorio of Alabama, who was on a vacation with her husband, according to ABC News.

Tenorio was traveling on the Royal Princess, which left Port Everglades Nov. 9 on a seven-day trip through the Caribbean.

Passengers reported seeing a woman struggling with a man before she fell onto a lifeboat Nov. 13, according to the Aruba news website Diario.aw.

The cruise line confirmed Thursday that an American woman had died on the ship on its way to Aruba. Princess Cruises said it had contacted the local authorities in Aruba and the FBI, which have been investigating the death.

“This remains an active investigation by the FBI and we have not been provided an update from them,” the cruise line said in statement Monday. “We have no new information to share at this time.”

Tony Rodriguez, Tenorio’s brother, confirmed her death to ABC News.

“Almarosa was a very loving daughter, sister, mom and grandmother with a good heart,” he wrote in a statement. “Her passion was teaching and working with children. She had a vivacious personality with a smile that would light up a room. We are sad that she was taken from us at such a young age. She will be missed by all that knew her.”

Photos on Tenorio’s Facebook page showed her smiling and posing on a cruise ship deck. On her profile, she said “I am a TLC and have been in this field for more than 20 years. I am known for multitasking.” TLC is generally short for teacher learner care.

She lived with her son, a University of South Alabama student, according to a GoFundMe page set up for the family.

Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for Aruba’s prosecutor’s office, said that an autopsy had taken place in Aruba last week. A cause of death has not been released.

The Royal Princess returned to Port Everglades on Saturday.
