If you live or work in western Deerfield Beach, expanded food choices are on the way.

Fast-casual restaurant PDQ is getting ready to open in mid-December at 3333 W. Hillsboro Blvd. The shopping plaza, off Hillsboro Boulevard and Powerline Road, also has a Target, Starbucks and Hobby Lobby.

This PDQ is the eighth location for the restaurant business in South Florida, said spokesman Jeff Kamis. There are other PDQ eateries in West Palm Beach, Wellington, Pompano Beach, Oakland Park, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines and Miami.

PDQ, which stands for “People Dedicated to Quality,” is best known for its chicken tenders and sauces. It also offers fries, sandwiches, salads, shakes and fresh-baked cookies. All items on the menu are under $10, with combo meals ranging in price from $7.99 to $9.49.

The Deerfield Beach PDQ will employ 50 to 60 people, Kamis said. To apply for either management positions, or full or parttime jobs, go to pdq.com/ careers.

The PDQ restaurants in South Florida are run by Fort Lauderdale native Tim Gannon, co-founder of Outback Steakhouse. In 2016, he co-founded Bolay, a superfood bowls restaurant in Boca Raton, along with his son, Chris Gannon.

The PDQ is the latest addition to Deerfield Beach. An I Heart Mac & Cheese restaurant is expected to open in mid-2019 in the Shoppes at Deerfield shopping plaza, directly across from where PDQ is being built.
