Amendola, Swanson sit out practice
DAVIE — Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw in Wednesday’s practice and was marked as a full participant, encouraging signs following his first start in six weeks against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday.
Tannehill completed a long pass of at least 40 yards during the portion of practice open to media, four days before Miami’s next game against the Buffalo Bills (4-7) at Hard Rock Stadium this Sunday.
Tannehill was marked as a full participant after being marked as limited in practice all of last week.
Tannehill was efficient, completing 17-of-25 passes for 204 yards with two touchdowns, including a 74-yard touchdown to receiver Leonte Carroo, against the Colts despite the 27-24 loss in Indianapolis.
The Dolphins (5-6), however, did practice without two offensive starters like coach Adam Gase said they would following the Colts game.
Wide receiver Danny Amendola (knee) and center Travis Swanson (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Amendola has not customarily practiced on Wednesdays this season. But the Dolphins did promote receiver Isaiah Ford from the practice squad to the active roster.
Ford was on the practice field fielding punts before the Dolphins began their practice, and could fill Amendola’s role returning punts on special teams if Amendola’s availability against the Bills is in question.
Third-year offensive lineman Jake Brendel worked at center, while Ted Larsen resumed his role as left guard.
Wide receiver DeVante Parker and running back Kenyan Drake, who both have shoulder injuries, again wore red, non-contact jerseys as limited participants during practice.
The Dolphins added rookie defensive back Chris Lammons (South Carolina) to the practice squad this week. Lammons starred as a quarterback at Plantation High School before changing positions in college.
