Grant to IR; Ford promoted from practice squad

DAVIE — The Miami Dolphins promoted wide receiver Isaiah Ford to the active roster on Wednesday, adding a promising young receiver to a unit decimated by injuries.

Ford replaces Jakeem Grant, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering a season-ending Achilles injury to his left foot against the Green Bay Packers.

The Dolphins are also missing receiver Albert Wilson, who suffered a hip injury earlier this season, and still leads the team with four touchdowns.

DeVante Parker played against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday despite a shoulder injury, while leading receiver Danny Amendola suffered a knee injury that could affect his availability for this Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills (4-7) at Hard Rock Stadium (1 p.m., CBS).

Ford, a seventh-round pick in 2017, has spent this season on the practice squad after missing all of last season with a knee injury.

“I’m just doing my part, working extremely hard and being ready for when that time comes,” Ford said.

“[What I bring to the table is] the same thing I’ve been doing — be myself wherever they put me at or wherever I can to help the team win, playing as hard as I can and owning my craft.”

Ford was a three-year starter at Virginia Tech from 2014-16, where he became the only player in ACC history to hold sole possession of his school’s career records with 210 catches, 2,967 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns.

Grant was the only player to have returned both a punt and kickoff for a touchdown this season.
