XXXTentacion album ‘Skins’ to premiere at Art Basel party
South Florida rap star XXXTentacion’s “Skins” album will get its longawaited premiere today during a live-streamed, Art Basel-timed release party at the RC Cola Plant in Miami.
The 7 to 11 p.m. event, designed “to honor his life, music and legacy,” will be co-hosted by indie-music company Empire and the XXXTentacion Foundation, the nonprofit formed after the chart-topping 20-year-old performer, a Parkland resident born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was shot and killed in a June robbery in Deerfield Beach.
Tickets to the “Skins” release party cost $25.32 in advance (no tickets sold at the door) at XXXTentacion.com. The event will be live-streamed beginning at 9 p.m. at Livexlive.com.
Local rap star Ski Mask the Slump God is on the list of expected performers, along with DJ Carnage, London On Da Track, DJ Scheme, Trippie Redd, PnB Rock, Matt Ox, Juice Wrld and others. Also down to be there is Miami rapper Lil Pump, which seems unlikely due to current European tour.
The party has been organized by well-known social-media entrepreneur YesJulz and 1AM Entertainment, who has teased a “very, very special surprise guest performance” at the release party.
The “Skins” his album, which will be formally released on Friday, Dec. 7, includes a feature by Kanye West, and a Yeezy appearance on Thursday would not be a total surprise.
West will launch a three-piece apparel collection in honor of XXXTentacion at the release party, according to XXL magazine. The merchandise will be printed on blank Yeezy T-shirts with graphics by Emmy Awardwinning designer-animator JJ Villard.
XXXTentacion’s third official album, “Skins” has 10 tracks, including the single “Bad!” and the Kanye West collaboration “One Minute.” It is the much-anticipated follow-up to the album XXXTentacion released in March titled “?,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
