What was once the Allianz Championship then became the Boca Raton Championship and is now the Oasis Championship.

On Tuesday, Oasis Outsourcing signed on as the title sponsor of the PGA Tour Champions event in Boca Raton.

The West Palm Beachbased company has a threeyear deal through 2021 and is the country’s largest privately held professional employer organization.

The Oasis Championship will be the first fullfield event of the 2019 Champions season and will be held at the Old Course at Broken Sound for the 13th consecutive year.

Play runs Feb. 8-10, and a $1.7 million purse on the line for the 78-player field. The three-round contest will be aired on the Golf Channel.

Last year’s event featured an exciting finish as Mark Calcavecchia narrowly edged out World Golf Hall of Famer Bernhard Langer in the final round.

Langer, who lives in Boca Raton and serves as the unofficial host of the tournament, was on hand in Boca for the sponsorship announcement.

“It’s a distinct honor and pleasure for me to represent the PGA Tour Champions players and it’s even more special to me because I live a few minutes from here,” Langer said. “I’ve made Boca Raton my home for many years, and it’s a blessing to be here.”

The 2018 field also included 15 major champions.

“Last year was a tough year because we went without a title sponsor,” said Miller Brady, the President of PGA Tour Champions. “If the community and the city had not stepped up, we would not be here today. This event would have left the community.”

The event was sponsored by Allianz insurance for a decade.

However, Holocaust survivors protested Allianz’s sponsorship, saying the company didn’t honor World War II-era life insurance claims on the basis that heirs could not produce original policies and death certificates. The sponsorship was ended after the 2017 tournament.

“We are excited that Oasis Championship will continue to bring worldclass golf to Boca Raton,” said Mark Perlberg, President and CEO of Oasis Outsourcing. “This sponsorship continues our tradition of supporting the local community.”
