Wearing a sports cap, sports shoes, dark-colored clothing and carrying a small flashlight — sometimes in his mouth — a man committed a sexual battery while burglarizing two homes and a vehicle, according to Hollywood police.

It happened about 4 a.m. Wednesday in the Hollywood Oaks community, police said.

The upscale northwest Hollywood gated community is located east of State Road 7, between Stirling and Griffin Roads and features homes which typically sell from $1 million to several million dollars, according to real estate listings.

Hollywood police initially described the crimes as “two occupied residential burglaries and a vehicle burglary” that included “a physical confrontation between the suspect and a victim,” but revised the information Thursday to include the sexual battery after a public records request by the Sun Sentinel.

The man seen in surveillance images released by police is wearing dark-colored clothing and a cap and shoes with a Nike swoosh.

“The Hollywood Police Department is reminding residents to please lock their doors and be aware of your surroundings,” the agency said in a news release.

Police have declined to release further details about the incidents.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the crimes to contact Hollywood police at 954-764-4357 or 954-967-4411. Tips can also be emailed or texted to hollywoodpdtips@hollywoodfl.org.
