Police say dad tackled peeping Tom

- By Doug Phillips South Florida Sun Sentinel

Heading out to his car early Monday morning, a Wellington man was startled to see someone in the bushes next to the bedroom window where his daughters were.

It was just before 7 a.m. and he told Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies that the man later identified as Geoffrey Cassidy had one hand inside his pants and appeared to be making sexual motions.

According to a sheriff’s office arrest report, Cassidy took off running when the man yelled out to him — but he only got about 50 yards before being tackled.

A neighbor who heard the commotion called 911 and the resident held onto Cassidy until deputies arrived. The homeowner’s oldest daughter “had just come out of the shower and was getting dressed as Cassidy was looking in,” the arrest report said.

Cassidy was identified from the Ohio driver’s license he was carrying and told deputies he was only walking through the neighborhood because his car broke down and he was waiting for it to cool off, the arrest report said. But he refused to say where the car could be found.

Cassidy later told deputies that he has no local address and he denied looking into the home’s window.

He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior and exhibition and was being held on a bond of $1,500.
