Guatave, Williams shine; Ely wins showdown against Northweste­rn

Breanna Guatave and Ja’Leah Williams lifted the Blanche Ely Tigers to a convincing 56-44 victory over Miami Northweste­rn on Monday in Pompano Beach as they scored a combined 45 points.

Guatave led the Tigers (14-4) with her efficient shooting as she posted 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting. The freshman guard contribute­d on the boards as well with her hauling in 10 rebounds.

Williams finished the matchup with 22 points and also had a stellar defensive performanc­e as she recorded a game-high four steals against the Bulls (15-3).

Seminole Ridge 54, Palm Beach Central 40: Sophomore Jahnae Midget scored a game-high 17 points to fuel the Hawks (15-2) over the visiting Broncos (7-6) in Loxahatche­e on Monday.

Palm Beach Gardens 58, John I. Leonard 29: The hosting Gators (15-3) were led by senior Kiera Brown who managed to post a double-double on Monday against the Lancers (13-8) with 19 and 10 rebounds.

Western 55, Cardinal Gibbons 32: Junior Chandler Bell and senior Alex Hoover led the way for the Wildcats (9-5) as the duo scored a combined 33 against the Chiefs (10-5) on Monday in Fort Lauderdale.

American Heritage 61, Stranahan 29: Paris Sharpe paved the way for the visiting Patriots (10-8) as the senior power forward recorded a teamhigh 15 points and 12 rebounds against the 13-6 Dragons on Tuesday Fort Lauderdale. points
