St. Thomas star Battle, Deerfield’s Knighton named to All-State teams ■ ■
An Alabama-bound safety and a four-star running back led the local players who were named to FloridaHSFootball.com’s Class 7A and Class 8A All-State teams on Thursday.
St. Thomas Aquinas senior safety Jordan Battle was one of eight Raiders who garnered All-State honors, while Deerfield Beach junior halfback Jaylan Knighton was one of seven Bucks to be selected.
In total, 58 players from Broward and Palm Beach counties made the two AllState teams. Deerfield Beach had the most firstteamers with five. St. Thomas was second with four, while Palm Beach Central had three.
St. Thomas had the most total players selected, and Deerfield Beach and Palm Beach Central were second with seven.
