A developer has pitched a plan to build hundreds of new rental apartments and shops in a project to be called Miramar Station.

FCI Residential Corp., a division of West Palm Beach-based sugar producer Florida Crystals Corp., is proposing the 648-apartment project on nearly 34 acres at the northeast corner of Miramar Parkway and Flamingo Road.

FCI’s managing director, Juan Porro, could not be reached for comment by phone or email.

According to the proposal submitted to the city, 120 of the homes will have one bedroom; 384 of them will be two-bedroom and 64 units will have three bedrooms. The apartment building will be four stories tall, and the plan includes new retail and restaurants within at least two separate buildings.
