A road rage incident involving a car and a motorcycle accelerated to the point of gunfire and now the Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the armed biker who sped away.

The shooting happened about 6 p.m. on April 8 where winding lanes merge through the Golden Glades Interchange and link to northbound Interstate 95 in Miami-Dade County.

The motorcycle passed on the driver’s side of a 2014 black Nissan and cut in front of driver Lyndon Edwards, 27, of Miami Gardens, and ended up on the passenger side.

“So I rolled down the window and said, ‘Guy, what are you doing? I could have killed you,’ and he just started flipping middle fingers at me and cursing,” said Edwards.

That’s when the motorcyclist hit the passenger side mirror with his fist, cracking it, Edwards said.

The motorcycle sped away but Edwards was able to catch up. He used his cellphone to record video of the motorcycle but its paper license tag was rolled up so the numbers could not be seen.

“I guess he got tired of me following him so when we got to the ramp to I-95 he stopped and pointed his gun at me,” Edwards said.

The motorcyclist stopped, put the kickstand down, got off the bike, and fired several gunshots at the car as it drove by, said FHP Lt. Alex Camacho.

“The vehicle sustained damage to the left rear tire and left rear window,” Camacho said. “The victim was uninjured in the incident [and] the suspect fled the scene on northbound I-95.”

The shots Nissan’s tire.

“I heard six shots,” Edwards said. “I think the majority of them hit the tire because I had a flat tire but I thought for sure one of them hit the corner glass and the door [frame].”

Fortunately, there was no blew out the traffic in front of him so Edwards was able to drive off despite the flat. He got off I-95 at Miami Gardens Drive and the motorcyclist kept going north on the highway.

“I wasn’t afraid, I was just confused, honestly, because he was acting like I did something so bad to make him shoot at me,” Edwards said. “I just felt like if he wanted to he could have killed me.”

Investigators are circulating pictures of the motorcycle with the hope someone will recognize the motorcyclist and report him by calling the Florida Highway Patrol at 305-470-2500, or *347 on a cellphone.
