For the next few days, the Miami Marlins will be looking to get more of the community involved with baseball and softball through Play Ball Week.

The initiative, which lasts through Tuesday, will provide local baseball fans with many opportunities to play ball and meet Marlins players and alumni.

After invitational youth games on Tuesday and Wednesday, the Young Viejos softball game will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The game, which is for players 65 and older, will be played at the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center, with former Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez in attendance.

Friday will be filled with Play Ball activities at Flamingo Park, with former Marlins infielder Alex Arias on hand to run fundamentals and skills drills. Saturday will feature an interleague friendly between the Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays RBI youth teams, followed by RBI Night at Marlins Park.

Play Ball Day at Marlins Park will be Sunday and will include a youth baseball and softball celebration as well as an exhibition game by the Young Viejos at 11:30 a.m. Play Ball Day is open to all athletes, from the Marlins Tee Ball Initiative to youth groups and adult leagues.

Fans can get a spot by purchasing a ticket at Marlins.com/PlayBall. Pregame programming with Marlins infielder Neil Walker, Billy The Marlin and Marlins Mermaids begins at 10:30 a.m.

There is also a career workshop for RBI players Monday and a clinic for local youth Tuesday. Play Ball Week will wrap up with an MLB Elite Development Invitational for girls softball that day.
