Bachelorette star, Jupiter native’s no-show in court leads to more fines

- By Catie Wegman

Tyler Cameron may have been seen leaving Bachelorette Hannah Brown’s Los Angeles home on Aug. 2. He may have even been seen in New York City with GiGi Hadid just a few days later.

But one thing’s for sure: Cameron was not seen in the Palm Beach County courthouse on Tuesday, though he was scheduled to appear.

Cameron pleaded not guilty to a careless driving citation he was issued in May, following a three-car accident in his hometown of Jupiter where he was found to be at fault. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday afternoon. But according to court records, Cameron was a no-show

The court upheld the $166 careless driving ticket, and Cameron was also issued a $60 fine, $106 in court fees and a mandatory eight-hour driving school course, which all must be completed by Nov. 4.

On May 21, about two weeks after the Bachelorette finished filming (and Cameron, the runner-up, was dumped), he crashed his 2005 Ford Excursion SUV into the back of a 2014 Ford King Ranch pickup while driving south on an Alternate A1A bridge in northern Jupiter, also causing the pickup to collide with a third car, according to a Jupiter Police Department crash report.

Cameron told police that while braking abruptly, he was not able to stop in time before he rearended the pickup in front of him. Police said there was an estimated $19,000 in damages to all three vehicles, and Cameron was the only driver to report injuries, sustaining “a bump on his forehead,” according to the report.

Jupiter police cited Cameron for careless driving and fined him $166. He had 30 days to pay it, but didn’t, records

show.

Cameron’s driver’s license was suspended for almost a month for not paying the ticket, according to court documents. On July 16 Cameron pleaded not guilty to the careless driving offense and paid a $23 late fee. His license was reinstated.

During the intense Bachelorette season finale on

July 30, Brown broke off her short-lived engagement with Jed Wyatt and asked Cameron out for a drink. By the end of the week TMZ had photos of him leaving her home early in the morning.

He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Aug. 6, to further contest the ticket, but he did not appear. Court records indicate Cameron’s attorney, Carman J. Leon, was present.

A plea of no contest was entered, and the court upheld the citation. The additional fines followed.

The ABC hit series has yet to announce who the next Bachelor contestant will be for its 2020 season. Cameron is a fan-favorite for the gig.

Will his no-show in court affect this decision? Or will Cameron and Brown make it official? We’ll have to wait and see.
