It can be hard to score a good bargain in Boca Raton, but that will change next month when a new Macy’s Backstage outlet opens in the city.

The discount storewithin-a-store will open Nov. 2 and occupy 11,000-square-feet of retail space inside Macy’s at the tony Town Center at Boca Raton at 5700 Glades Road, according to a news release.

The first 100 customers at the 9 a.m. grand opening will get free gift cards and special giveaways.

This will be the fifth Backstage to open in South Florida as Macy’s rapidly expands the off-price concept. Stores carry apparel, shoes and accessories for men, women and children, housewares, home decor and textiles, bath and beauty products, toys and tech items. Merchandise carried is similar to what’s sold at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. Backstage has its own buyers, separate from the department stores. There are no storerooms. What comes in is immediately put on the floor. Merchandise turns over quickly. Customers pay for merchandise at registers in the outlet.

Macy’s does not move unsold or marked-down merchandise into its outlet, unlike other discount stores run by department store chains such as Nordstrom Rack or Saks Off Fifth.

While the outlet does not accept Macy’s coupons, shoppers can use their Macy’s credit card and earn and redeem Star Rewards, the company said.

Macy’s outlet will join Lovisa of Austrailia and Caribbean-based Cariloha among the five new retailers at Town Center.

Macy’s opened the first Backstage Outlet in Florida at the Boynton Beach Mall in the spring of 2017. It now operates more than 215 locations within Macy’s stores including at Westfield Broward Mall in Plantation, the Falls in Miami and the Palm Beach Gardens Mall, the company said.
