HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WEEK 9 TOP PERFORMERS

St. Thomas Aquinas linebacker Derek Wingo turned in one of the best defensive performanc­es in one of the Raiders’ biggest games of the year.

Wingo, a Super 11 pick and Florida Gators commit, had four sacks in St. Thomas’ 28-7 victory over Deerfield Beach on Friday night. He also had seven tackles, six of which were for losses.

The senior linebacker leads the Raiders in tackles (35), tackles for loss (10) and sacks (eight).

Here are a few more top performers in Broward and Palm Beach County high school football last week:

Tre’von Taylor | Palm

Beach Lakes: The junior quarterbac­k was 16 of 25 passing for 330 yards and four touchdowns in a 53-27 win over Dwyer.

Anthony Hankerson | St. Thomas Aquinas:

Hankerson provided the bulk of the Raiders’ offense in their win over Deerfield, rushing for 142 yards on 18 carries.

Frantz Derival | Park

Vista: The senior wide receiver had five catches for 87 yards, including the game-winning score with 1:30 remaining as the Cobras rallied to defeat Glades Central, 21-20.

Antonio Outler | Palm

Beach Lakes: The junior running back ran for 225 yards and scored four touchdowns on just eight carries as the Rams downed Dwyer 53-27.

Colby Dempsey | St. Thomas Aquinas:

Dempsey had an intercepti­on early in the Raiders’ win over Deerfield, and he returned a blocked punt for a touchdown to get St. Thomas on the board.

Luke Cannata | Benjamin:

The junior outside linebacker had five solo tackles, an assist, three tackles for losses, two intercepti­ons — including a pick six for 60 yards — and a tipped ball that led to an intercepti­on in a 35-6 win over North Broward Prep.

Edwin Rhodes | American

Heritage: Rhodes didn’t show any rust after missing last week with an ankle injury. The senior quarterbac­k threw five TDs in the Patriots’ blowout 64-13 win over Clearwater American Collegiate Academy. He threw for 246 yards and ran for 43 more.

Ja’Den McBurrows | St. Thomas Aquinas:

McBurrows had two blocked punts in the Raiders’ victory over Deerfield Beach, including one that Dempsey returned for a score.

Bryan Robinson | Palm

Beach Central: The senior wideout had 151 yards receiving and two scores and added a 24-yard rushing touchdown in a 42-13 victory over Jupiter.

Carlson Joseph | American Heritage: Joseph ran for 78 yards and scored twice in short-yardage situations for the Patriots in their win over American Collegiate Academy.

Jordan Kolnick | Palm

Beach Central: The junior outside linebacker helped the Broncos to a 42-13 victory over Jupiter with 10 tackles, two sacks and a touchdown.

Vinson Davis | American

Heritage: The senior Patriots wide receiver caught five passes for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Andy Caverly | Boca Raton: The senior quarterbac­k threw for 132 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-28 win over Santaluces.

Jevon Williams | Blanche

Ely: Williams, the Tigers’ quarterbac­k, carried the ball 11 times for 135 yards and three touchdowns and added 100 passing yards in Ely’s comeback win over Coconut Creek.

Tre Rainey | Boca Raton:

The sophomore running back had 142 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Bobcats’ 43-28 win over

Santaluces.

Leonard Shoultz | Dillard:

Shoultz ran for 81 yards in the Panthers’ win over Miami Columbus. Sixtyfive of those yards came on the game-winning touchdown score with 7:45 left in the game.

Jalen Jeter | Forest Hill:

The junior quarterbac­k rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown and also threw a touchdown in a 33-13 win over Olympic Heights.

Zamir Jones | Dillard: The Dillard quarterbac­k passed for 178 yards and threw two touchdowns in the Panthers’ win over Columbus.

Lynden Moss | Palm

Beach Gardens: The junior quarterbac­k completed 12 of 19 passes for 211 yards and two scores in 41-6 win over Wellington.

Jai Levison | Cardinal

Gibbons: Levison had a team-leading seven tackles as well as an intercepti­on and touchdown in the Chiefs’ win over Coral Springs Charter.

Presley Almond | King’s

Academy: The senior running back ran for 162 yards and a score in a 44-8 victory over LaSalle.

Will Wynn | Cardinal

Gibbons: One of three quarterbac­ks to play in the Chiefs’ win over Coral Springs Charter, Wynn had the most productive day. He completed five of six passes for 106 yards and three touchdowns.

Bry’yon Jones | Atlantic:

The senior running back rushed for 100 yards and scored three touchdowns in a key 35-21 road victory over state power Lake City Columbia.

Matthew O’Dowd | Stoneman Douglas:

O’Dowd has led the Eagles to seven straight wins, throwing four touchdowns in Douglas’ 32-0 win over Nova.

Corey Polk | Pahokee:

The senior running back scored twice against his former team in a 20-7 win over Seminole Ridge.

Christian Higgins | Stoneman Douglas:

Higgins caught four passes for 79 yards and two scores in the Eagles’ win over Nova.

Jamall Tarver | Royal

Palm Beach: The junior strong safety had seven tackles, five assists and two tackles for losses in the Wildcats’ 34-6 win over host Martin County.

Matt James | Saint Andrew’s: The sophomore receiver had three receptions for 64 yards and one score and had an intercepti­on in the Scots’ 32-14 loss to Lake Highland Prep.

Tae’nard Boyd | Santaluces: The junior quarterbac­k ran for more than 270 yards and three scores in a 43-28 loss to Boca Raton.
