Police: Tempers flare after crash; one detained

PEMBROKE PINES

A lunchtime kerfuffle led to police speaking with people outside their cars near a McDonald’s restaurant in Pembroke Pines.

In an initial message on social media, police said it was a road rage incident that brought officers to 12604 Pines Blvd. at about noon Wednesday.

“There are no safety alerts for the surroundin­g area; the incident is contained. One subject detained,” the posting said.

About 30 minutes later, police reiterated that there was no threat to the community and said the incident started with a hit-and-run crash.

Everyone involved was cooperatin­g with investigat­ors, police said.

No other informatio­n was immediatel­y available.

A third teen was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a high school student attending a Halloween party, MiamiDade police announced Wednesday.

Marcos Manuel Gonzalez, 18, drove two co-defendants in his car to the party that was being held late Saturday night in far southwest Miami-Dade, according to an arrest report.

“The defendant was fully aware that the co-defendants were armed with firearms and intended to shoot at members of their rival gang,” the arrest report said.

Gonzalez is charged with second-degree murder.

Party goers were outside when a car pulled and someone got out and opened fire.

The only person struck, 15-year-old Angel Cueli, a student at Miami Coral Park Senior High School, was not the intended target, according to investigat­ors.

He was flown to a where he died.

Police announced the arrests of two other teens, Josue Cao, 17, and Matthew Hernandez, 18, on Tuesday. hospital

Both of them “conspired to discharge firearms at the rival gang members,” their arrest reports said.

According to investigat­ors, Cao saw rival gang members at the party and then notified Hernandez who was driven to the neighborho­od “in a black sedan” to meet him.

Cao is facing charges of second-degree murder, shooting from a vehicle and tampering with an electronic device, police said. At the time of the shooting, Cao was wearing an ankle monitor because of a previous arrest for allegedly assaulting his mother, WFOR-Ch. 4 reported.

He is being held at a facility for juveniles.
