Amazon has opened a new 96,000-square-foot delivery station near Jog and Belvedere roads in West Palm Beach to speed up deliveries in the region, according to the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County.

Both part-time and full-time jobs are available at the station, as well as independent contractor positions. Amazon didn’t say how many jobs are available, but openings can be found at amazon.jobs. Jobs pay at least $15 an hour, according to the Business Development Board.

There also are opportunities for independent contractors who want to deliver packages and create their own work schedule. Drivers make $18 to $25 an hour, according to the Amazon Flex site. See flex.amazon.com for more information.

Kelly Smallridge, president and CEO of the Business Development Board, said the economic development agency will support Amazon as it expands its footprint in Palm Beach County.

Amazon now has four delivery stations in South Florida, an Amazon spokesman said. In 2018, Amazon opened a delivery center in Sunrise, where packages are sorted from fulfillment centers, including one in Miami. Amazon also has a warehouse in Opalocka.

That same year, South Florida was one of 20 finalists for Amazon’s second headquarters. Amazon ultimately settled on Northern Virginia for a second headquarters and Nashville, Tenn., for an Operations Center of Excellence.

Amazon has said it plans to hire 30,000 people this year across the country.
