Tua on track to play

-

Alabama coach Nick Saban told ESPN on Wednesday that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa that “there’s a good chance he will play” Saturday against LSU if he continues to make positive progress in his return from an injury.

Tagovailoa remains day to day, but Saban said the junior Heisman Trophy contender has made positive strides so far this week in practice.

Alabama, No. 3 in the College Football Playoff rankings, hosts No. 2 and fellow unbeaten LSU in a critical game for both teams’ SEC title and playoff aspirations.

Tagovailoa passed for 2,166 yards, 27 TDs and two INTs before undergoing a surgical procedure Oct. 20 after injuring his right ankle against Tennessee. He missed the Crimson Tide’s 48-7 win over Arkansas two weeks ago ahead of the team’s off week.
