As the clash over impeachment heats up, President Donald Trump is planning to hold a “homecoming” rally with supporters later this month at the BB&T Center in Sunrise.

Trump recently filed to move his permanent residence from New York to Florida, and a campaign official mentioned that change of address as one of the reasons he was holding the rally.

“President Trump recently became an official resident of the great state of Florida and looks forward to a ‘Welcome Home!’ rally with his fellow Floridians,” Michael Glassner, Chief Operating Officer of Donald J. Trump for President Inc, said in a statement. “Florida is thriving under President Trump and this homecoming rally will be one of our best yet.”

The event is at 7 p.m. Nov. 26, and doors will open at 3 p.m. The BB&T Center has a capacity of more than 19,000 people.

The president typically spends

the Thanksgiving holiday at his nearby Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach. In September, Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, filed papers declaring the oceanfront mansion their “predominant and principal home.”

Trump tweeted: “I cherish New York, and the people of New York, and always will, but unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse.”

Terrie Rizzo, chairwoman of both the Florida and Palm Beach Democratic parties, shot back on Twitter — “He is not the first person to move to Florida to retire.”

Florida is seen as a mustwin state for Trump in next year’s election. He last visited the Sunshine State on Oct. 3 to speak about Medicare at The Villages.

In addition to the campaign rally, Trump will headline a convention on Israeli-American relations at The Diplomat in Hollywood on Dec. 7.
