MIRAMAR – A rental apartment will be built on what is considered downtown Miramar’s last undeveloped piece of land.

The Manor Miramar development will have 400 rental apartments. Rent for 465-square-feet studios starts at $1,350 a month. Three-bedroom apartments at 1,500 square feet will rent for $2,800 a month.

Amenities for residents include a spa, pool deck, golf and soccer simulators, private dining areas and a fitness center. The ground floor will have 28,000 square feet of shopping and restaurant space.

“The Manor project coming on line completes the Town Center,” said Mayor Wayne Messam. It will create a “true downtown feel, the central hub of our community.”

In March 2000, the city purchased a 54-acre parcel located north of Miramar Parkway, east of Red Road, west of Hiatus Road and south of Miramar Boulevard with plans for a mixed-use Miramar Town Center for a new City Hall, library and Miramar Cultural Center. It was envisioned as a gathering spot and central hub of the city for entertainment, dining and even living.

The nearly 4 acres spot that will become Manor Miramar was a cow pasture in the 1970s and eventually became a parking lot. It’s the last piece of undeveloped land in the Town Center area. The project will be built at Red Road and Hiatus Road.

“That community is a growing community,” said Ron Melendez the vice president of development for The Related Group, which is the project developer, said of Miramar. “It’s one of the fastest growing municipalities in Broward, and we want to be part of that growth.”

Manor Miramar is in the site plan approval process, which is expected to be complete early next year. Construction is expected by May, and the first tenants will be able to move in 18 months later.
