Q: I have lived in Fort Lauderdale for the past eight years and enjoy reading your weekly articles. I also really enjoy trying out all the local restaurant­s and love cooking at home as well. We are really spoiled with all the great restaurant­s in the area. I am writing because I am interested in seeing if you could help get the recipe for the turkey meatballs at B Square on Las Olas. It just amazes me that the meatballs are made from turkey. I try the meatballs at every restaurant in the area and I would never guess that a turkey meatball would outrank a traditiona­l meatball, they are simply that good, even the marinara sauce is incredible. A: Thank you Kevin for reading and writing. Lucky for you, Chef Ruben Curiel was willing to share Tommy’s turkey meatball recipe from B Square Burgers & Booze (1021 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, 954-999-5216, bsquarebur­ger.com). Although diners may be tempted to make a meal of Tommy’s turkey meatballs, they are one of several appetizers listed under B Square’s menu heading “B-Licious Bites.” The meatballs are served in a pomodoro sauce with a scoop of ricotta cheese and a drizzle of basil pesto. While I was able to score the meatball recipe, if you want to replicate the entire dish, you’ll need to prepare a pomodoro sauce and basil pesto or buy quality packaged brands.

When B Square opened in 2016, restaurate­ur and co-founder Tommy Febbraio incorporat­ed some of his Italian family recipes into the menu. The turkey meatballs are one of them and quickly became a fan favorite.

As the name suggests, B Square offers an impressive list of a dozen signature castiron griddled, half-pound burgers, but the menu doesn’t stop there. Wings, dogs, sandwiches, salads, Asian bowls, taco and main plates suggest there’s something for everyone.

ICYMI… For all the dog lovers out there, the next monthly “Dog Day” event is scheduled for Dec. 30 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Last month drew over 60 four-legged friends. The dog-friendly restaurant creates a sectioned off fenced patio area for dogs to play, and dog food trucks cater to the canine. Holiday plans are also on tap.
