It appears that Inter Miami CF has found an international player to help fill out its roster ahead of its inaugural season in the MLS.

The club has reportedly agreed to a deal to acquire Celtic FC midfielder Lewis Morgan, according to several media reports. Scottish newspaper Daily Record is among those reporting that the two sides have agreed to terms on a three-year deal that will net the Celtic around $519,760 (£400,000) and that Morgan will join Inter Miami once he’s given clearance.

Messages to Inter Miami management seeking confirmation were not immediately returned.

The 23 year old signed with the Celtic in January 2018 and was loaned to St Mirren FC, a Scottish soccer club, for the remainder of the 2017-18 season. He made 13 total appearances for the Celtic during the 2018-19 season before being loaned to Sunderland in January 2019 for the remainder of the season.

Morgan scored 2 goals in 22 total appearances with the English soccer club during the 2018-19 season, and scored twice in 18 total appearances with the Celtic during the 2019-20 season.

Inter Miami has also been linked to

Manchester City star David Silva. United Kingdom newspaper Daily Star reported that the four-time Premier League champion has reached a “verbal agreement” with Inter Miami. Silva announced in June 2019 that he wasn’t returning to Manchester City after the 2019-20 season concluded.

Inter Miami selected Robbie Robinson, the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy winner, with the No. 1 pick and Dylan Nealis, a two-time Big East Men’s Soccer Defender of the Year, with the No. 3 pick in the MLS SuperDraft on Thursday.

Inter Miami sporting director Paul McDonough said during the draft that the club had agreed to a deal with an international winger, and Morgan appears to be who he was referring to.

“We have significant international players still to sign,” McDonough said to MLSsoccer.com during the SuperDraft. “We have an international winger that we’ve got agreed, we’re doing personal terms with. We have a DP striker that we’ve agreed [a fee] with the club, trying to see if we can get personal terms done. We have midfielders we’re trying to secure and one or two center backs.”
