Trump: ‘Tough and effective’

President Trump has been an effective leader for America. Unfortunately, he is not always a nice guy. You bleeding hearts see tough and effective as not being qualified. Grow up.

I would take tough and effective over socially nice as a president. We didn’t elect him to be our good buddy or social friend.

The job is not for everyone, although everyone (including your editorial board) feels that they know better.

Republicans have no conscience

Appreciate your recent editorial — “King Donald’s courtiers betray Florida, the country, the Constitution” — asking whether Republican senators could explain to their kids and grandkids their shameful/shameless part in the impeachment.

You, however, give Republican congressmen/women too much credit when you say they may have trouble looking at themselves in the mirror because of their disgraceful toadying behavior.

People who feel pangs of conscience about their actions must first have a conscience. Republicans’ hand-in-glove relationship with, and a palpable fear of, a person who cares nothing about our country, and who delights in seeing how many Constitutional laws he can claim are “phony”, shows they are morally bankrupt.

It highlights how much they also fear their constituents, which is a sad commentary about how low our country has fallen.

Republicans won’t be doing any explaining to their kids and grandkids; they’ll just do what they must to keep the president happy, and to get reelected.

Praise for impeachment editorial

Your recent editorials concerning the importance of the impeachment proceedings to our country and our constitutional form of government have been outstanding. Too many have missed the point that Congress more specifically the Senate has made a mockery of the constitution. By turning belly up to the president and giving his outlandish behavior a green light they have set the stage for the presidency to become an office for personal benefit. Thanks for being willing to call this out.

Forgotten Constitution

Thank you for the editorial on the President’s and Republican Senator’s betrayal of the Constitution and American people. It put into words my exact thoughts and feelings, some of which are incomprehensible. This editorial should be placed in the history text books as an example of the dangers of collusion between the branches of government.

Trump acting like Putin

After the Senate’s so-called acquittal of President Trump, he had the Marine band play Hail to the Chief with 2 Marines in dress blues at the door as he entered the East Room of the White House.

I have not seen any other president do that. The room was filled with his sycophants as they wildly cheered him.

Look familiar? It should. It reminds me of Russia’s Vladimir Putin entering a large room in the Kremlin. Two men dressed like toy soldiers open massive gold doors as Putin enters a room filled with his sycophants wildly clapping and cheering him.

What’s next? A shirtless Trump on a white horse?

Trump, Romney and religion

Trump accused Romney of using religion to do something he knows is wrong.

Romney said he voted for what he thought was right since he took an oath to do so. However, Trump supports people who use religion to refuse to serve gay people or use religion to refuse to provide health insurance to pay for contraception medication. Trump also supports Senators who take an oath to God to be impartial and vote for something they know is wrong.
