Hurricanes land OL Rodriguez
The Miami Hurricanes added offensive line help to their 2021 recruiting class on Monday night as Miami Columbus’ Ryan Rodriguez announced a commitment to UM.
“I am proud to announce that I will be furthering my academic and athletic career at the University of Miami,” Rodriguez wrote in a Twitter post Monday night.
Both Rivals and 247 Sports rate the 6-foot-3, 280-pound Rodriguez a three-star prospect. 247 projects him as the nation’s No. 5-ranked center in the 2021 class, while Rivals lists Rodriguez as a guard prospect.
Playing tackle for Columbus, Rodriguez assisted the Explorers to their first Class 8A state championship in the fall, helping pave the way for running back Henry Parrish to accumulate 2,319 rushing yards.
Rodriguez becomes the 13th commitment for Miami in the class, which is ranked No. 9 by 247 and 12th by Rivals.
Rodriguez joins Miami Central four-star guard Laurence Seymore and Stoneman Douglas fourstar tackle Michael McLaughlin as offensive linemen in the class, which has been boosted of late with commitments from Fort Myers Bishop Verot cornerback Malik Curtis on Saturday and ChaminadeMadonna defensive tackle Allan Haye on Wednesday.
The workout video Tua Tagovailoa put on social media helped convince the Dolphins to draft him at No. 5.
quarterback position. He is a leader. He is accurate. He is tough, so we felt very comfortable.”
Tagovailoa, who had been training in Nashville with former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer, was unable to perform for NFL scouts and executives at an in-person pro day workout or meet with them during pre-draft visits due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tagovailoa began posting video clips of him performing football drills on social media March 23 — exactly one month ahead of the April 23rd draft — to show the progress of his surgically repaired hip.
