Harry, Meghan mark son’s birthday
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released a video of Meghan reading to their son as they mark Archie’s first birthday and promote a campaign to help children during the coronavirus pandemic.
The video shows Meghan sitting with Archie on her lap and reading one of his favorite books, “Duck! Rabbit!” Archie grabs at the pages and helps turn them during the reading. Harry, who filmed the video, whoops and says “bravo” from behind the camera.
The three-minute video was posted Wednesday on the Instagram accounts of Save With Stories and Save the Children U.K. for a fundraising campaign with the goal of bringing food and learning resources to children and families struggling during the pandemic.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019, at London’s Portland Hospital. His parents chose not to pose with their newborn outside the hospital, a recent tradition in Harry’s family, and decided against giving the baby a royal name.
Kraftwerk co-founder Florian Schneider-Esleben dies: Florian Schneider, 73, who cofounded the seminal German electronic band Kraftwerk in 1970 and went on to become a godfather of genres including synth-pop, hip-hop, electronic dance music and post-rock, has died. One of the most important musicians of the computer age, the artist died after what his longtime bandmate Ralf Hutter described as a short bout with cancer. The band issued a string of albums across the 1970s that upended pop music, and 1977’s “Trans Europe Express” became one of Kraftwerk’s most identifiable songs. The New York Times once wrote that “what the Beatles are to rock music, Kraftwerk is to electronic dance music.” Kraftwerk won a Grammy award for lifetime achievement in 2014.
Lady Gaga sets release date for album: After scrapping the original release date for her new album because of the spreading coronavirus, Lady Gaga has announced that her sixth studio release will be out May 29. The album “Chromatica” includes collaborations with Ariana Grande, Elton John and Blackpink. Gaga’s last full-length studio album was 2016’s “Joanne.”
