- By Ben Crandell

The two new movie venues at Hard Rock Stadium will offer an eclectic lineup of thrillers and family fare on July 4th Weekend, including “Jaws,” “ET: The Extra-Terrestrial,” “Creed,” “The Never-Ending Story, “Apollo 13” and “Space Jam.”

Some films will be shown for fans set up on the playing field inside the stadium (it can handle up to 230 vehicles), and others will be featured on a large screen outside the stadium on the Fountain Plaza. All screenings are at 7:15 p.m.

The films begin on Thursday, July 2, with a pairing of shark-horror classic “Jaws” inside the stadium and, on the screen outside, “Soul Surfer,” a biopic based on the spiritual journey of pro surfer Bethany Hamilton, who was 13 when she lost her arm in a 2003 shark attack.

Yes, those films will screen at 7:15 p.m. on the same night.

The weekend also will include drive-in screenings of “ET: The Extra-Terrestrial” at 7:15 p.m. July 3 and “Creed” at 7:15 p.m. on July 5. There is no film scheduled inside the stadium on July 4.

The outdoor screen will feature “The Never-Ending Story” at 7:30 p.m. July 3, “Apollo 13” at 6:30 p.m. July 4 and “Space Jam” at 7:15 p.m. July 5.

Tickets for the in-stadium drive-in cost $39 per car and include tailgate space with social-distancing. Outdoor seating is sold in groups of two, four and six for $12, $17 and $19 per person. Restaurant-style dining and concessions are available for purchase.

Luxury-box seating — a “living room” arrangement of a sofa, two loungers and two armchairs under a canopy, with waitstaff service — costs $28 per person.

A dinner-and-a-movie feature in a separate space costs $49 per person, $20 for kids.
