Where to find drive-thru, walk-up testing in South Florida

- By Brett Shweky

The number of test sites available to people in South Florida has increased as the requirements for testing have loosened. But as the number of cases continues to rise again, the sites are getting backed up, many require appointments, and all depend on the availability of tests.

Coronavirus testing sites may be limited to individuals who meet certain requirements, although many sites have loosened the restrictions. According to the latest guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people at highest risk for contracting the virus include:

■ People 65 years and older

■ First responders and healthcare workers who have exposure to people with COVID-19

■ People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility

■ People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma

■ People who have serious heart conditions

■ People who are immunocompromised

■ People with severe obesity (body mass index of 40 or higher)

■ People with diabetes

■ People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis

■ People with liver disease
