Michael Porter Jr. scored a careerhigh 37 points and Nikola Jokic had a triple-double to help the Nuggets top the Thunder 121-113 in overtime on Monday in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Jokic had 30 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. He scored 13 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to help the Nuggets strengthen their hold on third place in the Western Conference standings.

Porter, who averages just 7.5 points, had the big performanc­e in only his third start of the season. His previous career high was 25 points. He also grabbed 12 rebounds.

It was a key win for the Nuggets, who were missing three starters. Jamal Murray sat out with left hamstring tightness, forward Will Barton sat out with left knee soreness and guard Gary Harris sat out with a strained right hip.

College football: Northweste­rn announced that it paused workouts after one player tested positive for the coronaviru­s. Workouts will be on hold until Wednesday at the earliest. The player who tested positive is selfisolat­ing, while those who were in close contact with him must test negative before being cleared to return to activities. Northweste­rn held its last workout on Friday . ... Oklahoma LB Caleb Kelly, who missed most of 2019 recovering from a knee injury, reportedly suffered another serious knee injury in practice. The fifth-year senior so missed the first 10 games last season with a torn ACL.

NFL: Broncos RT Ja’Wuan James has opted out of the upcoming season. James, who played just 63 snaps last season because of knee troubles, is the second Broncos player — along with DT Kyle Peko — to opt out due to concerns related to the coronaviru­s pandemic . ... The 49ers and former Redskins TE Jordan Reed reached agreement on a one-year contract. Financial terms weren’t available. Reed, 30, has a lengthy concussion history . ... The Vikings acquired DT P.J. Hall, 25, for a conditiona­l 2021 draft choice.
