Man faces sex traffickin­g charges involving teens

Allegedly made threats to his victims, others

A 23-year-old Palm Beach County man is facing multiple charges after police say he engaged in sexual contact with two underage girls and threatened to kill the teens and their family members.

Cheridon Tyler Edgar was arrested Monday and charged with sex traffickin­g and lewd and lascivious battery involving two 15-year-olds, records show.

The teens told West Palm Beach police that they met Edgar through through mutual friends on social media, and he offered them money and gifts in exchange for sex.

One of the teens said Edgar promised her $150 for the initial encounter, then demanded more sex until she paid back the moneyr. When she cut off contact with Edgar, he threatened to kill her and her family, the arrest report states.

Both victims told authoritie­s they had seen Edgar with a handgun.

“If he got mad at me over the text, he threatened to shoot me,” the second teen told investigat­ors.

According to the arrest report, Edgar let her hold a gun during one of their meetings. He made videos in which he posed with guns, and he sent them to the teen when she tried to stop seeing him.

Edgar also sent sexually explicit texts to her father and sister and threatened to put “a hit” on her family, police said.

At his first court appearance Tuesday, Edgar’s bond was set at $100,000, records show.

The age of consent is 18, according to Florida statutes. People under age 16 cannot give consent under any circumstan­ces. Those ages of 16 and 17 can give consent to a partner up to the age of 23.
