Flowers in, Colbert out

The Miami Dolphins will have a potential starting offensive lineman back in the training camp fold after a nearly two-week absence.

Offensive tackle Ereck Flowers, a former University of Miami standout, was activated from the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday.

Flowers, who was deactivated on Aug. 2, had the longest stint of any Dolphins player on the COVID list.

Placement on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list means players have either tested positive or encountered someone who has tested positive

As the Dolphins begin padded practices in training camp Monday, it is unclear whether Flowers will be limited in how much he can participate after missing most of the strength and conditioning workouts during the first two weeks of camp.

Nonetheless, the Dolphins will have a player back in the mix who is expected to start at left guard on a developing offensive line that needs to foster chemistry quickly before the start of the season.

In other roster news, the Dolphins claimed former Auburn safety Jeremiah Dinson off waivers following his release from the Detroit Lions.

Dinson, a Miami native who attended American Senior High in Hialeah, was for the coronavirus. a three-year starter at Auburn, where he played in 48 career games, totaling 214 tackles (129 solo) and four interceptions from 2017-19.

Dinson played in college with Dolphins 2020 firstround cornerback Noah Igbinoghene and fullback Chandler Cox.

Ex-starter cut

The Dolphins officially waived safety Adrian Colbert Sunday. Miami also cut rookie offensive tackle Nick Kaltmayer, and activated defensive tackle Brandin Bryant off the COVID-19 reserve list.

Colbert’s release, which became known Saturday, opens a roster spot for Dinson.

Colbert, a former University of Miami standout, started five of the six games he played for the Dolphins last season.

Kaltmayer, a one-year starter at Kansas State, was signed in late April as an undrafted rookie.

Bryant, who was signed by the Dolphins last Wednesday, went on the COVID-19 reserve list on Saturday, and it only took him one day to get off, which indicates he either received a false positive that was cleared up by additional testing, or came into contract with someone who had been diagnosed with COVID-19, but tested negative twice since the disclosure.

The Dolphins only have one player — cornerback Xavien Howard — remaining on the COVID-19 reserve list heading into the on-field work this week at training camp.

Blaise Matuidi was teammates with David Beckham at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013. Inter Miami CF announced their signing of the former Juventus midfielder on Wednesday.
