HOUSTON — Myles Straw’s RBI single with one out in the 11th inning lifted the Astros over the Rockies 2-1 on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to a season-high six games.

The back-and-forth finish came after the teams were scoreless going into extra innings, highlighted by splendid performances from starters Zack Greinke and Antonio Senzatela.

The right-handers had nearly identical lines: They both went eight innings, allowed just three singles and walked none. Greinke struck out seven for Astros, one more than Senzatela.

After both teams scored in the 10th, Abraham Toro started the Astros’ 11th on second base and the Rockies intentionally walked pinch-hitter Carlos Correa. A sacrifice bunt by pinch-hitter Garrett Stubbs moved up the runners and Straw singled to left off Jairo Díaz (0-1).

Andre Scrubb (1-0) walked one in a scoreless 11th for the win.

The Astros wrapped up a 7-1 homestand after losing five in a row. The

Rockies have dropped five of their last six.

Raimel Tapia hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th to put the Rockies up 1-0. A sacrifice fly by Kyle Tucker scored Alex Bregman and tied it in the bottom of the 10th.

The eight innings matched a career high for Senzatela. And he’s just the third pitcher in Rockies history to pitch eight or more scoreless innings and not get a win.

The Astros placed DH Yordan Alvarez, last year’s AL rookie of the year, on the IL with right knee discomfort.

Braves: OF Nick Markakis was placed on the 10-day IL after potentially being exposed to COVID-19. Markakis initially opted out of the shortened season because of concerns about the coronavirus. A few games into the season, the 36-year-old changed his mind and decided to play. He rejoined the Braves a couple of weeks ago and hit .353 with six RBIs and a walk-off HR in his first 11 games. The Braves didn’t provide details of how Markakis may have been exposed to the virus.

Rangers, Padres: Rangers manager Chris Woodward served a one-game suspension during Tuesday’s 6-4 home loss to the Padres a day after Rangers reliever Ian Gibaut threw behind Padres hitter Manny Machado following a grand slam. Gibaut was suspended by MLB for three games, but appealed the suspension and pitched an inning Tuesday. He came in Monday night in the eighth after Padres slugger Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a grand slam on a 3-0 pitch off Juan Nicasio with the Padres leading by seven runs in a game it eventually won 14-4. Woodward immediately displayed his displeasure with what he perceived as a violation of an unwritten rule of baseball. After the game, the skipper said the pitch got away from Gibaut. Padres manager Jayce Tingler said after the game that Tatis missed the take sign from third-base coach Glenn Hoffman. Tatis said he wasn’t aware of such a practice.

Reds, Royals: The game between Reds and Royals scheduled will be played as part of a doubleheader Wednesday so that the visiting Reds can do additional testing after a player tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. Players, coaches and other members of the Reds organization were retested for the coronavirus Saturday and Sunday after one player was sidelined because of a positive result. The final two games of a series against the Pirates in Cincinnati were postponed.

Indians: Manager Terry Francona will miss the Indians’ three-game road series with the Pirates, which began Tuesday night. Indians GM Mike Chernoff said Francona will have a “scheduled procedure” to address a gastrointestinal issue. Francona also sat out seven games from Aug. 3-9 because of the ailment. The Indians are hopeful Francona will be back in the dugout Friday.

Extra innings: Cubs 3B/ OF Kris Bryant will miss at least the next couple of days after getting an injection in his left wrist to manage an injury that has bothered him for about a week . ... Rays two-way rookie Brendan McKay will have season-ending surgery on his left throwing shoulder Wednesday. McKay tested positive for COVID-19 in early July and missed most of the club’s preseason camp. He was cleared to resume activities July 31, but then experienced stiffness in his pitching shoulder and was shut down last week . ... Mike Yastrzemski and Pablo Sandoval homered, and the visiting Giants snapped a five-game skid with an 8-2 victory over the Angels.
