Steelers set to host 5,500 fans at Sunday’s game

The Steelers will be able to host approximat­ely 5,500 spectators at Sunday’s game against the Eagles after Pennsylvan­ia Gov. Tom Wolf announced Tuesday new guidelines for outdoor events in the state.

Heinz Field will be limited to 7,500 total people in the stadium, which includes players, coaches, other team personnel and stadium staff.

Priority for tickets will be given to our season ticket holders who didn’t opt out of the season.

Pitt, which also plays at Heinz Field, will be allowed to have fans at its next home game. The Panthers hostNotreD­ame on Oct. 24.

PennState inState College, because of guidelines related to the Big Ten’s return to play, will only be allowed to have family members at Beaver Stadium for games.

■ Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard will miss the remainder of the season after rupturing his right Achilles tendon. Howard, the 19th overall pick in the 2017 draft, had 11 receptions for 146 yards and two TDs in four games. ... Cowboys C Joe Looney may miss two to three weeks after with a sprained MCL in his right knee, ESPN reported. Rookie Tyler Biadasz, a fourth-round pick out of Wisconsin, will take over for Looney. The fourthroun­d pick out of Wisconsin already has played 133 snaps in the last two games. ... The Broncos signed DT Mike Purcell to a three-year contract extension worth just under $15 million. Purcell, 29, who went to high school near Denver, has started all four games this season and seven last season.

Auto racing: Hendrick Motorsport­s announced that Alex Bowman will drive its iconic No. 48 Chevrolet in 2021 after seven-time NASCAR Cup champ Jimmie Johnson retires at the end of this season’s playoffs. Bowman will be joined by crewchief Greg Ives, whowon five Cup titleswith Johnson as his engineer. The 27-year-old Bowman has won a Cup race each of the last two years and is on track for the best statistica­l season of his career.

Baseball: The Indians expect manager Terry Francona to return next season after he missed 48 games in 2020 due to health reasons. Francona, 61, washospita­lized during the season after undergoing surgery for a gastrointe­stinal issue and then dealing with blood clotting complicati­ons. Firstbase coach Sandy Alomar Jr. managed while Franconawa­s out.

NHL: The Blue Jackets acquired center Max Domi and a third-round pick from the Canadiens for winger Josh Anderson. Domi, 25, tallied 44 points during the shortened regular season but added just three in 10 playoff games. Anderson, 26, suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in December after just registerin­g four points in 26 games. ... The Oilers announced Monday night that captain Connor McDavid has tested positive for COVID-19. The 23-yearold former No. 1 overalld draft pick and 2017 Hart Trophy winner is self-quarantini­ng athomeand experienci­ng mild symptoms. McDavid had 97 points last season.
