All Jets negative after coronaviru­s test scare

All Jets players and coaches have tested negative for COVID-19, and Sunday’s game against the Cardinals will be played on time.

The Jets posted a statement on social media Friday night, hours after their training facility was closed due to a presumptiv­e positive coronaviru­s test for one player.

“This evening, we received negative PCRCOVID-19 test results for all players, coaches and personnel,” the team said. “Following a presumptiv­e positive COVID-19 test and out of an abundance of caution to ensure everyone’s health and safety, we sent all players and personnel home this morning. We also initiated all NFL mandated protocols including player isolation, subsequent testing, and contact tracing.”

■ Jimmy Garoppolo will return as starting QB for the 49ers thisweek after missing the past two games with a sprained ankle. ... The Chargers placed RB Austin Ekeler on injured reserve. Ekeler was injured during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers. ... WRJulio Joneswas held out of practice for the third straight day with a hamstring injury but has not been ruled out for the Falcons’ game against the Panthers. ... Bears LG James Daniels is done for the season after tearing his pectoral muscle in Thursday’s 20-19 victory over the Buccaneers, NFL Network reported. ... The Giants placed OLB Oshane Ximines on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. ... Dolphins rookie LT Austin Jackson went on injured reserve because of an ankle injury, a blow to an offensive line that has been improved this season. Jackson, a first-round draft pick, will likely be replaced by Julie’n Davenport, who started eight games last season.

Colleges: Wichita State is conducting an internal investigat­ion into allegation­s that men’s basketball coach Gregg Marshall mistreated players, the school and Marshall have confirmed. Stadium, a multiplatf­orm sports network, said the inquiry began after the university learned it was conducting an investigat­ion in which it interviewe­d 36 players and former coaches. Former Wichita State F Shaq Morris told Stadium he was punched twice by Marshall, the school’s all-time winningest coach, during an October 2015 practice, and former guard Ty Taylor said he sawit happen.

Golf: Sei Young Kim birdied five of the final six holes as darkness fell at Aronimink for a 5-under 65 and the second-round lead in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championsh­ip. Jennifer Kupcho (65), Danielle Kang (69), Carlota Ciganda (69) and Anna Nordqvist (68) were a stroke back. Nelly Korda withdrew because of back pain. ... Despite a double-bogey on 18, Matt Fitzpatric­k shot a 7-under 65, leaving him tied for the lead with Shane Lowry (65) at 12-under overall at the BMWPGA Championsh­ip in Virginia Water, England.

NHL: C Paul Stastny is returning to the Jets after DC arl Dahl strom was traded to the Golden Knights. ... Henrik Lundqvist signed a one-year deal with the Capitals, two weeks after having his contract bought out by the Rangers. ... The Wild trading G Devan Dubnyk to the Sharks and signed G Cam Talbot to a three-year, $11 million deal. ... Veteran F Wayne Simmonds signed a one-year $1.5 million deal with the Maple Leafs. ... The Blackhawks agreed to sign rookie of the year finalist Dominik Kubalik to a two-year, $7.4 million contract extension and also signed G Malcolm Subban to a two-year, $1.7 million contract.
