With coronavirus cases soaring in some regions of the country, Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Americans to reconsider traveling to see out-of-town relatives for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“That is unfortunately a risk, when you have people coming from out of town, gathering together in an indoor setting,” Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said Wednesday night on “CBS Evening News”. “It is unfortunate, because that’s such a sacred part of American tradition, the family gathering around Thanksgiving. But that is a risk. … Youmay have to bite the bullet and sacrifice that social gathering, unless you’re pretty certain that the people that you’re dealing with are not infected.”

Fauci, who is 79, said his own three children won’t be visiting this Thanksgiving in an effort to help keep their dad safe.
