You can be a vegan for a day

If you don’twant to be alone on World VeganDay on Sunday, Nov. 1, you mightwant to check out the Plant Based Festival being staged at Gulfstream Park Village— which neighbors the Gulfstream Park racetrack— from11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This will be the third year the outdoor shopping and dining center inHallanda­le Beach has produced the event, but the first time it has fallen onWorld Vegan Day.

The firstwas held in July 2019 and the secondwas produced earlier this year, in February.

“The event in February had such a great turnout thatwe decided to bring it back later in the year onWorld VeganDay,” Gulfstream spokesman Alex Schreer explained in an email.

The festival, which is free to attend, will have more than 50 merchantsw­ith plant-based foods and products, giveaways, live music and contents for children.

“Highlights of the food that will be available for sale include vegan hot dogs, kombucha, plantbased smoothies, baked goods and more,” Schreer said. “The cost of food will range from $5-$15. Plant-based goods will include, wood crafts, soy candles, handmade jewelry and crueltyfre­e soap. The prices of the plantbased goods will vary.”

In a news release, Gulfstream says in part, “Guests [and vendors] will be required to maintain the social distance of six feet. All guests are required towear face coverings to the event andwash their hands in accordance with theCDCguid­elines.”
