Houston earns 3rd diamond album

-

The late Whitney Houston has earned her third diamond-certified album, becoming the first Black artist to achieve the feat.

The Recording Industry Association of America and Legacy Recordings announced Wednesday that Houston’s 1987 album, “Whitney,” has reached diamond status, which is equivalent to selling 10 million albums. Her selftitled 1985 debut album and 1992’s “The Bodyguard” soundtrack were already diamond successes, selling 13 million and 18million units, respectively.

“Whitney” featured four songs that topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart: “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “So Emotional” and “Where Do Broken Hearts Go.”

Garth Brooks holds the record for most diamondcertified albums, with nine. Others with three or more albums that have reached diamond status include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles and Shania Twain.

Houston, who died in 2012, will be posthumously inducted into the Rock& Roll Hall of Fame’s 2020 class nextweek.

Teigen delivers essay on miscarriage:

Chrissy Teigen wrote a heartfelt message about the loss of her third child with husband John Legend, her first public response since announcing the loss of their son, Jack, on Sept. 30.

In Tuesday’s post on Medium, Teigen, 34, wrote that her doctors diagnosed her with a partial placental abruption. She said she received bags of blood transfusions at the hospital, but that failed to help support the fluid around her son. After a couple of nights, she said she knew it was time to say “goodbye.”

Teigen said her decision to take and post photos of the process was met with

some support and criticism. She said Legend was “very hesitant” to take the photos, but she felt the need to share their story.

“I lived it, I chose to do it, and more than anything, these photos aren’t for anyone but the people who have lived this or are curious enough to wonder what something like this is like. These photos are only for the people who need them. The thoughts of others do not matter to me,” she wrote.
