NFL plan: Some fans at Super Bowl

The NFL is moving forward with plans for a reducedLV, to be played Feb. 7 even if the league ultimately adds an 18th week to its regular season, ESPN reported Wednesday.

At this point, the NFL plans g to hold capacity to 20% at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, which normally holds 65,000 fans. With temporary seating, its capacity could have been enlarged to nearly 75,000. Fans will be in pods 6 feet apart and masks will be required.

The Bucrs, who play at Raymond James, have hosted an average of 10,961 fans at two home games.

College football: Mississipp­i State coach Mike Leach said WR Tyrell Shavers and DEs Tre Lawson and Jamari Stewart are no longer with the program. Leach also said he’s heard that senior RB Kylin Hill plans to opt out for the rest of the season to prepare for the NFL draft. He was preseason All-SEC firstteam selection after rushing for 1,350 yards and 10 TDs last season.

NBA: The 76ers were in advanced negotiatio­ns with former Rockets GM Daryl Morey to become president of basketball operations as part of their front-office overhaul that began after an underachie­ving season, The AP reported. The deal is expected to be finalized as early as this weekend. Elton Brand will remain GM. Morey stepped down as GM of the Rockets earlier this month.

Soccer: Ousmane Dembélé scored in the 14th minute and Lionel Messi converted a late penalty to lead Barcelona over host Juventus 2-0 in a Champions League group-play match. The Italian champ played without Cristiano Ronaldo, who tested positive for the coronaviru­s about two weeks ago.
