Broward shifts to online classes ahead of Eta; all classes canceled in Palm Beach, Miami-Dade

The Broward County School District announced Sunday that all classes will shift online for Monday due to Eta, while both in-person and online learning were canceled Monday in Palm Beach and Miami Dade counties.

Palm Beach County schools will close in-person and virtual classes and all district offices Monday, Superinten­dent Donald Fennoy said in a statement.

American Heritage School will close its Broward and Palm Beach County schools Monday. Classes will not be held online.

The Archdioces­e of Miami announced that all elementary and high schools in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will be closed on Monday, as will the pastoral center.

The Pembroke Pines Charter School system will also close Monday.

Barry University is suspending all operations at its facilities in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties and Keiser University is closing its Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie campuses.

Miami-Dade College, Broward College and Palm Beach State College suspended all classes, including online instructio­n, for Sunday and Monday.

Miami-Dade will wait until Monday afternoon to “assess conditions for a determinat­ion regarding operations on Tuesday,” the school district tweeted Sunday.

The University of Miami will have all its classes remotely, with the exception of some clinical rotations and other courses in the school of medicine. Florida Internatio­nal University has cancelled all classes.
