Hankerson leads St. Thomas

Playing on national television, Anthony Hankerson helped power St. Thomas Aquinas to a big win over American Heritage.

Hankerson, a junior running back, gashed the Patriots defense for 168 yards on 29 carries, and he scored on a 21-yard touchdown run.

Here are some more top performers in Broward and Palm Beach County high school football from last week:

Kylan Stephens | St. Thomas Aqu. Stephens, a senior defensive lineman, picked off a pass near the line of scrimmage and returned it about 55 yards for a touchdown as the Raiders beat the Patriots. Jacob Cashion | Boca Raton

The sophomore quarterbac­k completed 10 of 12 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown in the Bobcats’ 42-2 victory over Olympic Heights.

Dallas Turner | St. Thomas Aqu. Turner, a senior defensive end and Alabama commit, had six tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in the Raiders’ win over American Heritage. He also had a quarterbac­k pressure that led to Stephens’ pick-six.

Trotsky Horton | Boca Raton The senior running back carried the ball 10 times for 122 yards and added 60 yards receiving and a score in the Bobcats’ win.

Jakob Gamble | Hallandale Gamble, a senior defensive back, had eight tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, three pass deflection­s and a fumble recovery in Hallandale’s 14-7 win over South Broward.

Khani Johns | Benjamin

The senior quarterbac­k finished with 21 carries for 200 yards and a touchdown as the Buccaneers topped Miami Westminste­r Christian 20-13.

Cole Baird | Calvary Christian Baird, a sophomore defensive end, racked up six tackles and two sacks in Calvary Christian’s playoff win over King’s Academy. He also blocked a punt.

Emonte Brown | Jupiter

The Warriors sophomore running back totaled 172 yards rushing on 10 carries and found the end zone three times in a 42-14 win over Suncoast.

Cedquan Smith | Plantation Smith, a senior quarterbac­k, passed for 215 yards and threw three touchdowns in the Colonels’ win over Piper.

Jeremiah Young | St. Andrew’s The senior quarterbac­k threw for 240 yards and four scores in the Scots’ 33-16 win over Somerset Academy.

Jacolby George | Plantation George caught four passes for 93 yards, and he made the most of those catches, scoring three times. George is a Miami Hurricanes commit.

Matthew James | St. Andrew’s The junior wideout caught six passes for 85 yards and two touchdowns in the Scots’ 33-16 win over Somerset Academy. He also added an 85-yard punt return for his third score and intercepti­on in the win.

Eric Lyons | Plantation

Lyons, a junior safety, had five tackles, an intercepti­on and a forced fumble in Plantation’s shutout win over Piper.

Sean Jordan | St. Andrew’s

The junior outside linebacker had 12 tackles, including seven tackles for losses, three sacks and a forced fumble in the Scots’ 33-16 win over Somerset Academy.

Joshua Glaze | Plantation

Glaze, a senior linebacker, had six tackles and a pair of sacks in the Colonels’ win.

Xavier Scott | Dwyer

The junior athlete had three rushes for 54 yards and a touchdown; two catches for 73 yards and an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 28-18 win over Palm Beach Gardens.

Vinson Davis | American Her. Davis, the Patriots’ starting quarterbac­k, rushed for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 14 attempts against St. Thomas.

Jon Paul | Dwyer

The senior offensive and defensive lineman spearheade­d the defense with three sacks in the Panthers’ 28-18 win over Palm Beach Gardens.

Mark Fletcher | American Her. Fletcher, a standout sophomore running back, rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries as the Patriots fell to the Raiders. Markel King | Park Vista

The junior running back/slot receiver had nine carries for 107 yards, including a 60-yard rushing score and two receptions for 26 yards and a 7-yard touchdown pass reception in the Cobras’ 35-0 win over Seminole Ridge.

David Vadala | American Her. Vadala led the defensive effort for the Patriots, racking up 12 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks in Heritage’s loss.

Gio Thomas | Park Vista

The senior quarterbac­k ran 13 times for 72 yards and a score and added a passing touchdown in a rout of Seminole Ridge 35-0. Christophe­r Darius | Stoneman Darius was part of a two-headed rushing attack for the Eagles, racking up 124 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries as Stoneman Douglas beat Coral Glades.

Jalen Jeter | Forest Hill

The senior quarterbac­k threw for one touchdown and added two rushing touchdowns, including a 26-yard game-winner, in a 27-26 victory over Palm Beach Lakes. Derek Geffrard | Stoneman Geffrard also had a strong game running the ball, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in Douglas’ win.

Dmitry Peters | Forest Hill

The junior running back/slot had three receptions for 100 yards and added a touchdown run in a 27-26 victory over Palm Beach Lakes. Nicholas Dobbs | Stoneman Dobbs led a dominant defensive effort for the Eagles, racking up 10 tackles and three tackles for loss as the Eagles beat Coral Glades 28-3. Montahj Joseph | Atlantic

The senior running back carried 12 times for 75 yards, including a 38-yard touchdown run in a 32-10 loss to TRU Prep Academy. Johnoy Johnson | Flanagan Johnson helped the Falcons keep Boyd Anderson’s offense in check. He had four tackles, including two for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Zo’Marion Harper | Glades C. The junior quarterbac­k was 13 of 17 for 218 yards and two touchdowns as the Raiders routed Royal Palm Beach 46-6. He added a 34-yard touchdown run. Delvontae Bouie | Coral Springs Bouie accounted for the majority of the Colts’ offense on Friday. The senior running back rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in Coral Springs’ 19-13 win over Taravella.

Desmond Washington | Glades C. The senior running back rushed 12 times for 142 yards and a score in the Raiders’ 46-6 win over Royal Palm Beach.

Michael Mcfarlin | Coral Springs McFarlin, a junior defensive end, tied for the team lead with four tackles for loss and six total tackles in the Colts’ win.

Jacob Camacho | Glades C.

The senior safety had 12 tackles, two pass breakups and a 37-yard intercepti­on return for a touchdown in the Raiders’ 46-6 win over Royal Palm Beach.

Willy Volmar | Coral Springs Volmar, a senior defensive tackle, had seven tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack in Coral Springs’ win.

Lonnie Henley | Pahokee

The senior defensive end had six tackles, two sacks, four tackles for losses and a forced fumble in the Blue Devils’ 22-16 double-overtime win over Wellington.

Bryan Lodge | Monarch

Lodge, a junior, completed eight of 14 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown, but his biggest impact was on the ground. Lodge rushed for 106 yards and four touchdowns on five carries in the Knights’ win over Northeast.

Nate Brown | Boynton Beach The senior running back had 20 rushes for 288 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers’ 27-13 win over West Boca. He also added two tackles for losses.

Xavier Johnson | South Broward Johnson racked up 15 tackles and had an intercepti­on, two forced fumbles and two blocked punts in the Bulldogs’ loss to Hallandale. Brunash Mergenat | Santaluces The freshman running back had 100 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Chiefs’ 40-0 win over Spanish River.

Micah Lewis | Westminste­r Acad. Lewis made an impact on both sides of the ball, rushing for 110 yards and making 10 tackles with three tackles for loss and two sacks in a playoff win over Fort Myers Evangelica­l Christian. Thurlynne Bennifield | Santaluces The senior quarterbac­k accounted for 150 yards passing and two touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 40-0 win over Spanish River.

Zack Norris | Westminste­r Acad. Norris had 81 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown while dominating on defense. He led the Lions with four tackles for loss and three sacks.

St. John Paul II Acad.

The sophomore running back had 11 carries for 147 yards and two touchdowns as St. John Paul II Academy blanked Homestead Everglades Prep 49-0.

Shevoun Minott | Somerset Acad. Minott racked up 10 tackles and two sacks in Somerset Academy’s win over Somerset Academy South Homestead.

Trevor Dick | St. John Paul II Acad. The senior outside linebacker had five tackles and four sacks as St. John Paul II Academy blanked Everglades Prep 49-0.
