New in Fort Lauderdale: Wharf reopens, Bodega Taqueria makes debut
The Wharf Fort Lauderdale, the popular open-air downtown drinking, noshing and gathering spot along the New River, is re-opening on Nov. 20.
The venue will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at noon each day, a weekend that also will celebrate the Wharf Fort Lauderdale’s first anniversary (it debuted Nov. 8, 2019). Plans are to add Thursday events beginning Dec. 3.
Much will be the same, but one change guests will notice is more seating to allow for extra social distancing in the kid- and dog-friendly atmosphere.
“We are thrilled to be able towel com eour guests back,” said Emi Guerra, co-founder of Break water Hospitality Group, which also operates the Wharf Miami. “Having opened just a year a goto great success, we are excited to bring back our staff and start serving our guests and our community again .”
The Wharf Fort Lauderdale will return just in time to revive its annual River front Holiday Village, whichwill kick off Dec. 3.
The Wharf has always been a great spot for foraging, and pop-ups by popular local chefs will return.
You’ll find Dean James Max’s Even Keel; Lunchroom, from Elliot Wolf’s Be Nice restaurantgroup; Hou Mei, by Temple Street Eatery’s chef-owners Alex Kuk and Diego Ng; and pizza by Chef Jose Mendin’s The Pie father. And, of course, there will be Mojo Donuts.

In nearby food news, the long-awaited Bodega Taqueria y Tequila is scheduled to open on Nov. 12 in a historic building behind the Wharf, at 21W. Lasold Blvd.
Originally scheduled to open last spring, this is the sequel to Men in Hospitality’ s popular Miami Beach location. That spot has been a celebrity magnet, listed by the Huffington Post among the “hottest Mexican restaurants in America.”
