Dolphins are making their point by putting up points

- -- Steve Svekis and Omar Kelly

The Dolphins have scored at least 21 points in eight consecutive games this season, which is the longest streak of that fashion since an eight-game streak at the end of the 2001 season that extended to the beginning of the 2002 season. The last time Miami had an eight game streak of 21- plus points in the same season was 1984, when the team scored 21-plus points in all 16 games.

Emmanuel Ogbah ties Jason Taylor’s clubmark

Dolphins defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah grabbed Justin Herbert for a less-than-a-yard loss for a sack, andthat tied Ogbah with Jason Taylor with eight consecutive games with at least a half-sack. In Taylor’s streak, the minimum sack number in any of the games was one (and he had 13 sacks over the eight games), while the two games at the front end of Ogbah’s streak have been a half-sack each and he has eight sacks during the run. A great mid-level free-agent signing by GM Chris Grier and company.

In Tua’s two home starts, he has benefited from a rarity — twice

According to the Dolphins, there had not been a Dolphins 1-yard touchdown “drive” before Tua Tagovailoa’s first NFL start in at least 20 years. In Tua’s first two home starts — each against Los Angeles teams— he has had a touchdown drive of 3 feet in each (Kyle Van Noy returned a fumble to the 1 against the Rams, and Andrew Van Ginkel’s punt block on Sunday was recovered at the 1).

Jason Sanders consecutive field goals streak ends

Sanders missed a 47-yard field goal, which ended his franchise record of consecutive field goals at 20 after making 50-yarder earlier in the game. The miss wide right was Sander’s first miss of the season. Sanders redeemed himself in the fourth quarter by making a 49-yard field goal that put Miami up, 29-14.

Xavien Howard gets fifth interception of season

The beauty of Howard’s game is the fact he can pull down interceptions if a pass is a little off its spot, and that’s exactly what Howard did on Sunday picking off a Justin Herbert pass intended for Mike Williams in thirdquarter. That’s his fifth interception of the season, which ties him with New England’s J.C. Jackson for the NFL lead with seven games left in the regular season.
